Victorian Seafood

Possibly the best eating fish in Australia is caught or harvested off our coastline, from Nelson in the state’s far west to Mallacoota in East Gippsland. Think King George whiting, abalone, crayfish, flathead and mussels. Over 8,000 Victorians work the seas, process or transport fresh seafood.

Buying Victorian fish is easy – simply ask your fishmonger what’s coming from Victorian waters. They can offer fish from waters somewhere off our coastline year round.

Here is a list of some of the most common commercially caught fish in Victoria. The figure in brackets indicates the annual harvest in tonnes according to the most recent figures.
