What’s better in winter than a steaming homemade pie matched with a glass of Victorian pinot noir and enjoyed in the warmth of your “local” pub. From Fitzroy to St Kilda, from Bendigo to Beechworth, gastropubs and country hotels will dish up their own mouth-watering pie interpretations, such as Victorian rabbit pie with creamy mash or steak and kidney pie with hand-picked local pine mushrooms, served with a perfect pinot noir.
